The MEDLamp Headlamp and adapter features several improvements over standard headlamp designs. The MEDLamp designed adapter provides the user with two points of adjustment, increasing flexibility and usefulness of the light. This process is accomplished by creating an adapter that moves the LED away from the forehead, where it can be positioned to emit light forward from just above the bridge of the nose (optimal light position for most forward facing medical procedures). It can also be positioned up and away from the forehead facing directly down. This is excellent for working close to the body without blinding yourself with light from a headlamp with no outward adjustment.
Typical headlamps only allow for 90° of adjustment, and are further restricted by the shape of the LED housing on where light can be pointed.
MEDLamp allows for many different light angles by providing two points of adjustment. The design is such that the adapter allows the LED housing to have a wider range of adjustment through freedom of motion.
The headlight itself has four modes of operation.
- Maximum Brightness
- Medium Brightness
- Strobe Mode
- SOS Morse Code Flash
The lens on the LED can be focused from an extremely wide beam pattern to a very small pencil beam.
The rechargeable battery back can be used as an emergency power source for a cellular phone. It can be charged from any USB source or 110Volt outlet.
A light on the back of the battery pack indicates charged state.
The battery pack being on the rear of the head acts as a counter balance to the extended MEDLamp light position, providing a comfortable wear at all times.
The headlamp utilizes a CREE XM-L2 LED, for plenty of brightness and power efficiency.
